Article excerpt
Six-hundred-twenty university students finished an anonymous questionnaire that is confidential to evaluate attitudes toward interracial dating. Nearly 1 / 4 (24.2%) reported having dated interracially and almost half (49.6%) expressed an openness to be involved with a relationship that is interracial. Blacks, cohabitants, and the ones with past interracial relationship experience had been much more prone to show an openness to be involved with an interracial relationship. Implications for college faculty, practitioners, and pupils are recommended.
Even though the marriages of Quincy Jones (musician), Charles Barkley (pro basketball player) and Roger Ebert (movie critic) are interracial, lower than 5% of most marriages in america are interracial (Statistical Abstract of this united states of america: 1998).
