This cross-cultural research explored the part of culture and sex in mate selection. The study found that culture had significant impact on patterns of self-presentation and mate preference through content analyzing two hundred Chinese personal advertisements and two hundred American personal advertisements posted on Chinese and American dating websites. More Chinese advertisers supplied information on their real appearances, health problems, economic status, training, and morality, whereas more US advertisers penned about their character and hobbies. a pattern that is similar present in their statements about mate preferences: declaration about real faculties, monetary status and morality more often starred in Chinese individual adverts, and statements about personality and hobbies more often happened in US individual advertisements.
